Racine RDA unveils new initiative and website to fuel economic and community growth

RACINE, WI – Oct. 6, 2017 – The City of Racine Redevelopment Authority and the Department of City Development have unveiled Build Up Racine, a new initiative dedicated to supporting economic development efforts to spur job growth and bolster reinvestments that will improve quality of life for City residents.

“Build Up Racine is about preserving and improving our unique retail, commercial and residential corridors, while supporting the families, neighborhoods and community groups that make Racine a great place to live,” said Amy Connolly, city development director. “Founded in Racine’s heritage of innovation and civic pride, Build Up Racine fuels economic development efforts from concept to creation, and supports a thriving community.”

In conjunction with the Build Up Racine initiative, a new website, www.buildupracine.org, will serve as a go-to tool for business owners, developers, entrepreneurs and nonprofit organizations seeking to establish, relocate or grow their businesses in Racine. Resources on the website help streamline the permitting processes, highlight business opportunities, identify available incentives and provide additional external resources.

“Build Up Racine was created in recognition of the needs and sentiments of area businesses, entrepreneurs and community members,” said Jim Spangenberg, RDA chairman. “By launching the Build Up Racine initiative and its online counterpart, we’re providing a tangible tool to make economic growth simpler and inspire our city to invest in itself.”

In addition to helping with business development processes, the website will also feature current and past projects.

“As the site evolves, it will become a place to highlight successes and growth. It will be a place where developers and potential business owners can see what’s happening in Racine and, ultimately, decide they want to play a role in this success,” said Spangenberg.
